You Now Have FREE Access to Office 365

As part of our commitment to providing the best technology experience possible for our customers, OU IT is providing FREE access to the very latest Microsoft products and services via your own licensed Office 365 account. Office 365 is a cloud-based service that allows you to work from your computer or devices for seamless, real time collaboration on Office products like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You can login today and begin using these apps by visiting portal.office.com and entering your OU email address (not 4+4) and OUNetID password. (Login instructions here.)

OU IT will also be migrating its current Exchange email system to Office 365 beginning November 2015. Please see below for more information.

Office 365 Email Migrations

Email is moving to the cloud, but don’t worry–we’ll help you pack! The email component of Office 365 is called Exchange Online. It enables you to access your email from the web, your Outlook client, or your mobile devices just as you always have while providing larger mailbox sizes (50 GB), superior uptime, and improved security. You can access Exchange Online immediately after migration (before you even have your new email set up on your phone or computer!) by logging in with your OU email address and OUNetID password at portal.office.com.

Why Are We Doing This?

OU IT strives to provide you with the best possible technology experience. This migration offers enriched email features and cloud productivity tools to help you get your work done anywhere, anytime, on any device. Additionally, this move will increase IT’s capacity to support the expanding technology needs of the University community while saving money and creating opportunities for the next generation to develop their skill sets with common workforce applications.

What Can I Expect?

OU IT will begin migrating faculty and staff mailboxes from Exchange to Office 365 beginning in November 2015. Our OU IT migration team will schedule email migrations by department and will provide onsite support before, during, and after migration to ensure our customers are up and running as they should be. Please watch for email communications from OU IT and from your departmental IT support staff to learn about migration dates and support resources.
