Meet Aaron Baillio. Aaron serves as the Managing Director for Security Operations and Architecture, but wait! This gets better. In addition to his detective work, Aaron boasts some mad Mario Bros skills and a hippie surfer past (we’re as surprised as you are).
What is your favorite aspect of working in security?
It feels like detective work. We get an alert about a potential problem, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. We have to use forensic and network tools to piece together the clues and determine if we have a real threat.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
My best reaction was to Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. I really like rock music, and it was a fun song to sing. Everyone seemed surprised that I knew it as well as I did.
What did you care most about at age ten?
Probably beating Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. They had just come out, and I really loved to play them.
Did you use the level 2 warp pipe cheat on Mario or play through the game?
I actually didn’t even know there were cheats until years later, haha. We always tried to play through all the levels. (Hat tip to Aaron, we loved those warp pipes and hidden 1-ups back in the day).
What does your perfect day off work look like?
Well, I have 5 kids, so ideally they would be playing together peacefully, haha. I would be near them reading a book. My favorite genres are fantasy or spy, but I haven’t found many spy-fantasy novels. My favorite from the past year would probably be the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. It’s a really interesting modern-fantasy series.
What is something on your bucket list?
Ultimately, it would be so cool to own a house in the Basque area of France. Being surrounded by the ocean, the countryside, and the Pyrenees Mountains would be incredible. And they have some great surfing. My dad was the typical hippie surfer. Being from San Antonio, he would often take us to the gulf to surf, but I’ve also surfed California and Florida.
It was great to meet you, Aaron!
