Meet Avery, a 5th year senior majoring in interior design and minoring in architecture. She has been on our Services team for four years now and owns her own business! She does it all.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Avery, and I’m originally from Tulsa. I love all things design and I’m Nicole Richie’s biggest fan.
Love her. How has your time been at OU IT?
My time with IT has been great! I’ve worked here for four years. My favorite part is being with my co-workers, they’ve become some of my best friends, and I dread the day I have to leave them.
What is the most frequently asked question you receive when working at a service center?
I get a lot of calls from freshmen about general clarification with their OUNetID and their new email addresses.
In your opinion, what is the best service IT provides?
I think the in-class support from our Learning Spaces team is great! If a professor has something go wrong in their class and is feeling overwhelmed, we can get someone out to them within a few minutes. It’s a great relief and I’m always happy to help with that.
What is your most memorable moment at OU IT?
My most memorable moment at IT is our Thanksgiving lunch we have together every year. We all bring a dish and have a huge lunch together and I always look forward to it and appreciate the full-timers letting us bring the festivities to work!
We heard you have your own business, what do you do?
I do have my own business, it’s called Lume. I’m a wedding filmmaker, so I spend my weekends shooting weddings and hanging out with couples and their loved ones. I’m also a photographer, so I do that some as well when I have time. When I’m not working or doing school work I’m at home editing.
Wow, that’s awesome. What show are you binge-watching right now?
I’m binge-watching Scandal right now. I just hopped back on the train. I’m questioning my own moral code but I am Team Liv and Fitz!
Aren’t we all? Thanks Avery!
