Meet Jeremy! He works as an Office Assistant for our Learning Spaces team where he does things like scheduling, event coordinating, and team building. I’m sure a lot of you have seen him in our emails or in photos around campus. Jeremy has worked on both the Services and Learning Spaces teams, which means he is very familiar with everything OU IT!
So, tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jeremy Nowak! I’ve worked at IT for three years. I’m an International Security Studies major with an Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies minor and I want to go into an intelligence field in Washington.
Can you describe your time here with OU IT?
My time here with OU IT has been… hmm, I’m trying to look for an adjective… enthusiastic! Because, I don’t know, I’ve met so many of my close friends through OU IT, as a part-time student employee.
Do you plan on pursuing a career in the tech industry after graduation?
Not in the tech industry, but I’d like to deal with tech in whatever industry I go into, just because I have the background and because I have work experience with IT.
We heard you studied abroad! Tell us more.
I studied abroad in Jerusalem, in Israel. Before that, me and a few friends went on a side trip to Athens, Greece. It was a pretty great time! It’s a pretty different world out there.
Really! What was your favorite part about Jerusalem?
Walking around the old city while people were yelling and protesting all around. It was pretty awesome!
That’s really cool. What is your favorite thing about technology?
Well, my roommates who also work at OU IT made a viral meme that has spread across the internet! If you ever see the “Elf on the Shelf” meme, which is what it’s called, yeah they created that. I guess just how things can go viral!
You’re kidding, that’s hilarious! Thanks Jeremy. (If you haven’t seen or heard of the “Elf on the Shelf” meme, look it up ASAP.)
