Meet Lisa Hendrix. Lisa is our Associate Director of the Project & Portfolio Management Office, which, she affectionately tells us, means she’s a professional cat herder. More like a rock star, we think. Lisa is one of the most hard working, dependable, and down to earth people you will ever meet. She says her focus is on getting things done: relaying how we can get it done, how we should get it done, and how it got done. This lady means business.
Here Lisa shares her favorite island vacation spot, the best thing about living in a small town, and the book that always makes her think…
Where did you go to school? Boomer Sooner! I was a late in lifer and finished my degree with a Bachelors in Liberal Studies in 2002.
What is the best thing about your hometown? Washington, Oklahoma. 37 people in my graduating class in 19something. It’s grown quite a bit, but I raised my children in my hometown. There is nothing like living in a small town and keeping track of folks you’ve known since you were a baby. A helping hand is never too far away. It’s like having an extended family surrounding you all of the time.
Tell us about your favorite book, TV show, or movie: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. The cliff notes version is that there are four agreements for life: Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best. If you do these things, then your life will be filled with unconditional love and grace. It will make you think.
What type of music do you like to listen to? You may not know this about me. I’m a county girl. George Strait is the King.
Describe your perfect day. I’ve got my toes in the sand.
What is your favorite place to visit? The Caribbean. Any of the islands. I really liked Barbados and St. Martin. Everyone should put Airport Beach, St. Martin on your bucket list. The runway starts at the beach and the planes come in to land while you are just sitting there or bobbing in the ocean. You can see the people in the planes waving at you. It’s really a cool place.
At happy hour I order: ice tea with lemon.
What is your favorite app? I’m a weather nut. I recently downloaded an app that shows live storm chasing all over the country called TVN weather live chasing. It alerts me anytime they are chasing tornadoes. I know, obsessed.
What was your first computer? It was a big ol’ tower with a floppy drive. The monitor and tower were so heavy!
How much time do you spend on your phone? Actually, not that much talking. I prefer face to face communications!
I cannot live without my: laptop. I would be lost without it.
What is your favorite social media site? Facebook. I have two adorable grandbabies that live two hours away. I keep up with them through Facebook.
Where would you go in a time machine? 1950s. Probably from watching Back to the Future too many times!
Dogs or Cats? Peanut, my Great Dane.
What would we find in your fridge? Water, Veggies, and Condiments.
What did you care most about at age 10? Softball and playing outside.
Thank you Lisa!
